Journal 9
This week i bought 160 shares of Fedex stocks for $78.58. Surprisingly, retailers are not doing well in fact, not one of the retail stocks i hold is doing better than a total gain of $109.75 so i have decided to stay away from retail stocks this month and go to the next best thing one can invest in this close to christmas and that is an extremely widely used shipping company. FDX is a midcap company that is about in the middle of its 52 week range which is 64.07-98.66. i am aiming for it to hit about $88 and as soon at it gets to that point i will have made a substantial amount of money that will hopefully make up for the huge loss that Amazon has yielded me.

Job Shadow contact
When i called my contact, they were not ther but i did speak with the person i will be working with and got all the information i needed. he told me he is always in at 8 but said to come in whenever is good so i told him iwould be in at 8 as well. he also said that i should wear any clothes that i don't mind getting dirty so i am excited for that because getting dressed up for a job is not my idea of a job i want to do or see myself doing. The call went very well and he seemed very receptive of me and happy to have me coming so i definatly think it will be a good experience. Also i have been thinking about it and Gunsmithing is a job that encompasses things that i really enjoy including guns and metal-working. im excited for it.

Insider Trading for senators
1.What is your opinion of the topic of the video? Explain.- The information that the reporter found and talked about in this video is very maddening because it is showing that the people who run our country and the people who we trust to do what is best for the U.S. are for the most part, Dishonest and immoral Dirtbags. In my opinion the trading that these senators are doing is extremely unethical and even though it is legal, they should not be doing it. Not only is it unfair to the rest of the country who would get thrown in jail for it, it can color their judgement enough to affect their decisions on bills and cause them to not do what is best for the country.
2.What can you do about your opinion? how can you make it count?-Well as we saw by the video, we cannot do anything because these people are just going to deny everything and even if a law is put up to stop this trading, nobody will back it.
3.What is insider trading? What was the information that caused Martha Stuart to go to jail?- insider trading is when you make a trade in the stock market using information that is not available to the rest of the public. She went to jail because she profited from stock information that was not available to the rest of the public.
4.what is Black Friday? When did it get its name? What is Cyber monday?-black friday is the friday after Thanksgiving when retailers lower their prices huge amounts. It got its name on the day the stock market crashed. Cyber Monday is exactly like Black Fiiday except with internet retailers.

This week my Xinyuan Real Estate stock yeilded me a total loss of a little over 100 dollars which is not much considering the large amount i bought(2000). never the less losing money sucks so i bought a thousand more so i would be coloser to making money than i am now. When i bought it, i had read that it was expected to make a huge jump soon and that has apperantly not happened yet so i decided to buy more to decrease my total losses and make it easier to make money. as soon as i make a suitable profit, (about 600 to 700 dollars) i will sell my stocks.
Included in my purchase of additional real estate stocks was 93 stocks of Amazon. my reasoning for this large purchase was the upcoming cyber monday. that day last year yeilded more profit than black friday did for retailers and Amazon is the largest if not one of the largest online retailers in the world so naturally it makes sense to buy this stock and dump it right after cyber monday. I bought them for $214.96 and today the stock unfortunately tanked and i am out a little over $1600. it is too big of a loss to just sell out of fearr of losing more money so i decided too keep it and wait it out until the tuesday after cyber monday.

Candy Stock
The stock market simulation was tense from the beginning and it started with all of us taking our positions in the spots where we thought we could rake in the most candy for ourselves. we took defensive positions from the beginning and once Mr. Kapptie said "Go" , it was all but a brawl to claim as much candy as possible. as the candy on the floor quickly moved to the tables, we all settled down physically but if everyone else was like me, they were mentally freaking out and wondering what their next move should be. we all began to organize our "stocks" to see what we had and calculate how rich we were. it took me a while to decide to trade a little bit so i began to obtain more of the stocks that i felt would increase in value and make me money. Mr. Kapptie gave me some insider information but i did not understand it so i didnt act one way or the other. the rest of it involved suttle trading and a somewhat relaxed mood except for the video playing and the hot atmoshere. at the end it was a relief to be out and cool down.

Game Standards
1:students formulate solutions to economic problems.-Sometimes you don't have enough items to hire someone but you need to come up with solutions that can help you hire someone.
2: Students explain how different economic systems are organized for production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services.-how we build our town and what kind of industry is predominant in our country and how that effects how our country plays out.
3: Students demonstrate an understanding of economic principles that influence individual finantial planning.-you have to know these principles to be able to prosper and do well in the game and you will also learn new thing s from doing it
4: students evaluate the impact of technology and how it has shaped history and the modern world.-in the game we have to incorperate technology into our country to help advance our cities.
5:Students analize current events to better understand the world in which they live.-an event could cause you to need to build a new building or get more of something like if their was a population jump or a new business in town i would need more housing

Occupy Wall Street
In my opinion, although it is one of the biggest movements that has ever happened in the U.S., Occupy Wall Street is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard. Personally, I have heard a large number of different arguements given by people who support the movement and also have been told by others against it that they have heard many different arguements as well. They are not unified by one cause and they only want to blame their problems on someone else. also, people feel they are entitled to things and they don't want to do the work for themselves. people do not understand the value of hard work and that is sad.

This week i heard alot of talk of the Stillwater Mining Company(SWC) so i decided to check it out and what i found looked very promising.SWC is a small cap stock and it is part of the Basic Materials sector. SWC is involved in every part of the process of mining and refining precious metals such as palladium and platinum. Platinum is used in any electronic device and it is electronic devices that will be given as gifts the most this season. The first thing i noticed was the price of $9.49 and then the 52 week range which is $7.31-$25.90. this looked very good to me because there is not much farther down the stock can drop and there is also a huge amount of room for it to grow. I also looked at the price range of this time through December 31st of last year and it made an increase of almost 4 dollars and that peaked my intrest even more because to me that says that it will rise a large amount with the coming holiday season and increase in electronics sales. I belive that the price of each SWC stock will rise by atleast $5 and if not, it will hit $21.49 like it did last year and with the 300 shares that i bought, that will be a great profit. I plan to let it go on the last day of the semester.

Journal 3
This week i bought a new stock in the company called Activision that makes video games and I have one reason for this. I Found out that Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is coming out soon and that particular game series has been extremely popular in the past and when retailers like walmart offer pre-order the orders are usually taken up well before the game is released. I bought 200 shares for $11.77 each and it is currently trading at $12.56 and I have made $157 and although that is not alot, it is still a gain and I believe that it will rocket to $15 or Maybe even $20 when the game comes out at which point i will still not sell because of the holiday season unless i feel i have made more money than expected.
I also attempted to short sell my 50 Under Armour stocks because it has been tanking ever since I bought it the first time. This did no work however because hunting season finally kicked in and they began ending the day with an increase. I expected to make about 10 dollars per share since it dropped so much but it ended up beginning to rise so i covered it and plan to just cut my losses.

Stock Journal 1
I bought a stock in Procter and Gamble this week and i have a couple reasons for making my purchase. For one, the 52 week high is about 8 dollars more than the price that i bought it for. This company has an extremely wide range of products that include hygene, entertainment, and food to name a few. so as you can see you really can't get away from their products.

Journal Number 2
This week i made a couple of new purchases that i would call long term trades. My reasoning for this term is that i plan to keep these purchases for less than six months but i will still keep them for a decent chunk of time but sell them when they reach my expectations. My first one was 50 shares of Under Armour (UA) that i bought for $76.12 per share. so far my trade has yielded no profit, just a loss of $280.75. My reasoning for buying this stock even though it was at such a high price is because of hunting season and winter. Under Armour has a huge variety of quality hunting and cold weather gear and i expect people to begin buying their products more than usual. I expect this stock to reach between $81.50 and $83.00 by the time the semester is over.
My second ‘long term trade’ was 100 shares of Cabela’s (CAB) for $22.22 each. My reasons for buying this stock is very similar to my reasons for buying UA. Cabela’s is an outdoor clothing and equipment retailer that has a huge range of products from guns to ladies clothes. hunting season has already started but it still has yet to peak. Also winter weather is upon us and Cabela’s has everything needed to keep you warm. so far it has only brought me a loss of $81.00 but i am confident that it will reach at least $25.00 if not $30.00 because in March of this year, it was trading at about $31.00 per share.

Have we won the war on terrorism?
I dont believe there will ever be a difinitive win against the war on terrorism but i do believe we have made a huge impact against the jihad mentality. though we have lost many American men and women, we keep going back to defend the American way of life and in my opinion, even if we have not officially been victortious, it is a mantal victory for any American patriot.
